He said the NH&MP would also conduct a “fitness” test for each bike and then grant permission to it. The IG said under the standard operating procedure heavy bikes were being allowed in the first lane while they would have to take the second lane to overtake. The first bike we ever tested, about 100 years ago, was the Suzuki V-Strom. It’s a great bike, with a wonderful engine, surprisingly good handling and looks only its mother could love. And now here we are testing the runt of the litter, the V-Strom 650. And what’s changed? At first glance very little. It’s still enormous, still as practical as ever and still as ugly as a drunken brawl. In fact, the only obvious difference between siblings is the single exhaust on the smaller bike and a slightly less leery colour scheme.Taking the 650 V-Strom home, then, was likely to be something of an anticlimax. Especially as over the last few weeks I had mainly been riding the GSX-R 1000 tested elsewhere. One extreme to the other, you might say. And you’d be dead right, of course. And completely wrong. Because, despite its bulk and relatively small engine, the 650 V-Strom is not a slow bike. Not by any means.That little motor, more commonly seen in everyone’s favourite first big bike the SV650, may only produce 66ps but it does it in style. I am pushed to remember the last time I rode a vee twin that revved this happily and I certainlycan’t think of one this small that went this well.Let’s look at the downsides, because there must be some. And there are. The SV650 is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a pretty bike. Understatement. It’s as ugly as sin. Happily, though, it is also nearly as much fun. The only other criticism I have is also aesthetic and purely down to my own taste and memory. If the term ‘plastic maggot’ means nothing to you then please feel free to skip this bit.

The import of heavy bikes has been doubled in Pakistan despite the 200 percent custom duty and CC fine on imorted vehicles. The prices of the imported heavy bikes increase threefold in Pakistan, but the youth bikers don't bother about that, said a survey conducted among heavy bike dealers and riders in Lahore city.




The survey said that heavy bikes dealers were importing bikes from 250cc to 2000cc being made in Japan, Germany, Italy, America, China. Some of the most favourites bikes among Pakistani bikeriders are Harley Davidson, BMW and Ducati, which are being sold from Rs 500,000 to 2.2 million.
A heavy bike dealer in Lahore, Ahsan Butt said that during the last five years, a record number of heavy bikes had been imported in Pakistan that showed how the young generation was crazy about motorbikes.

Another dealer Waqar Ahmed said that the youth belonging to elite class of the society could easily buy an imported bike costing 2.5 million, but the government should reduce the amount of custom duty and fine for other buyers. If the government allows import of heavy bikes on less duty, this trade can be developed into an industry, he said.

On the other hand, despite all the measures, the government has failed to provide youth with an attracting racing track to curb the menace of one-wheeling and motorcycle racing on city roads. The sport has now become a profession for youths, who are playing at the hands of gamblers in Lahore.

The practice of one-wheeling and motorcycle racing on city roads has claimed the lives of more than 150 wheelers in the last two years, according to reports published in different newspapers. At least 15 people die every year on Independence Day after indulging in one-wheeling and motorcycle racing.

As many as 15 persons lost their lives and over 400 sustained injuries while performing one-wheeling on roads in the provincial capital and the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi during the celebrations of Independence Day this year. All the victims were between 16 to 25 years of age.

According to the official count, 24 boys have died while performing one-wheeling on roads but police sources revealed that the actual number of deaths by racing and wheeling was more than thrice that because it could not be confirmed whether the others died in accidents or while performing one-wheeling.

It has been learned during a survey that these racers and wheelers occupy Canal Road in Lahore on Sunday morning to perform the bloody practice of one-wheeling. Professional gamblers also go there to put their money at stake. They entice the youths to get involved in this practice on the pretext of giving them money. They also provoke them by terming this disastrous practice as passion.

But even after taking this step, the problem has not been solved yet as the flocks of motorcyclists and one-wheelers can be seen on city roads, especially on Saturday and Sunday nights. When asked, one of the youth namely Sajid Butt said that he could not resist performing one-wheeling. He said that he had lost one of his legs in an accident caused by one-wheeling but still he could ride his bike on one wheel better than many others.

Harley Davidson skateboarders BIKES

The Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight, in the company’s Sportster segment, sits at a cross-cultural intersection in the cyclemaker’s lineup. It apparently represents the spot where bikers meet skateboarders. It seems that the stripped-down looks and functional-jewelry design of the Forty-Eight is well appreciated by skaters who don’t like their rides to make any extraneous fuss.

The bike is only one small part of what some call a larger trend, that of skateboarders increasingly moving into the world of bikes. It isn’t that skateboarders want to be bikers but, according to a skate shop owner, “We’re just wired a certain way. For some reason the death and danger are just a part of us.” And you don’t have to look any further than a motorcycle to find death and danger.

Harley has used the rendezvous to help market the Forty-Eight, including hiring skaters like Heath Kirchart and Matt Ball to appear in its promotional materials. The Milwaukee firm isn’t targeting skateboarders only with this bike, but they certainly want to welcome them to the family. super good BMW F800St

My experience has been like finding a super good babe, having a huge blowout fight soon after meeting her, sulking around for awhile, deciding it's totally without hope, waiting, meeting for coffee, and by New Years, everything is peachy again.

I love the bike. Mine had a fuel pump failure combined with an erratic engine ignition pick-up. Major Problems that should not have happened. It was a disappointment, a very big one.

I've bitched about all that, and I've since shut up about the bike until I had some time to think about ownership and the bike itself.

It's fixed, my confidence in it has for the most part returned, and by early Summer, as long as it has zero problems, it will be a keeper again. I have been grabbing rides here and there as the weather has allowed, and I'm looking forward to having fun with it this season.

It has plenty of power. It will do fine. I'm short, and I bought the lowered version and the really low seat. That part has worked out brilliantly, compared to my R1150R's, I feel very relaxed on this bike. The last thing it is is top heavy, I sold my K1200RS after just 12 months because it was silly top-heavy.

The computer is very nice to have. I was skeptical at first, but I've come to enjoy it.

The bike handles perfectly.

I haven't had the ABS come on, and I probably won't. I don't ride very quickly. In the 3 bikes I've owned with ABS, I've only seen it come on once, on my 05 BMW F650GS. I feel ABS is an expensive gimmick, and would buy a bike without it. But, this one had it, so it's no big thing.

Living with the belt drive is unique. No maintenance, silent, clean...you can't ask for more, there isn't any. You just don't think about final drive any longer.

You'll want to change the front fork springs. The OEM are way too stiff for a 170# rider. They banged the heck out of me. Put in progressively wound Hyperpro springs, and it's like a different motorcycle. That is the one change to this bike I feel is mandatory, unless this is going to be a track bike for you.

I will still say it's a good bike to own, if you want a touring bike that isn't real heavy. The long wheelbase makes such a light machine stable in winds. It has spoiled me against heavy bikes, that much is certain. I can wheel this thing around like it's a 250. But, it has the midrange torque and stability of a big bike. The engine's powerband is also brilliant.

Flossie, the motorcycle test robot, is the first indication that we’re all doomed, … OK, maybe not, it’s actually a Castrol developed robot used for testing motorcycle lubricants under all kinds of specific,

extended and sometimes, extreme conditions. It has a self learning capability to get a feel for the clutch, gear change pattern and throttle response and it’s totally oblivious to the noise and heat or cold of the test chamber.

Of course it just rides stationary motorcycles on a dynamometer, there’s that whole vision and balance thing missing but, as technology marches on, you know it’s coming.

I, for one, welcome our new motorcycle robot overlords.

ICare - Futuristic Motorcycle Concept

Wow, Oh Wow! This is what I call a futuristic design. A great + cool concept for the unpredicted future. Featuring Japan’s Honda Engine, the 6 Cylinder Flat with 1800 Cm3.

As if this Cool ICare MotorCycle is for sport, it’s equipped with double exhaust pipe right below the comfortable thick foamed seat. It looks a bit heavy though… But who cares? As long as it’s cool, people will sacrifice anything for this motorbike.

Frankly, ICare Front side looks like a evil character in all of the comic books. Sharp Eyes, Blacky, Big Headed, etc. Or, I should tell it’s similar to an Alien Shape. Well, guess yourself what it is.

There is some problem though. It seem iCare don’t have any stand to help this motorcycle standing properly. I wonder if the designer forgot to put it, or this ICare motorcycle design is equipped with magnetic field balancing technology. This is something really tickle my curiosity.

Honda envisions future | 'The Matrix' 'I-Robot' |

This looks cool & fantastic, on the face value of it but I really have no clue how Honda plan to actually pull this off. Again the pictures here are sufficient & very necessary to let you all understand the kind of amazement I am under.

But I think Honda can pull this off & I hope Honda do manage to do it. This was the model that Honda presented at the LA Motor Show this year. The show has obviously been in the news for some time now & I myself remember doing some articles related to it. But this is nothing like any others till now.

This is the project design that Honda says would be on the street by the end of next five decades. (I might, just might live to see this on the streets) The car is being said to be powered by Solar Hybrid technology & is a vehicle that is four in one. It can launch 4 different modes of vehicles I suppose. Like the Mini-Bike in the batman car maybe! Honda plan to attain this goal by integrating Nanotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Gyros & molecular engineering. You know all this sounds so mind-boggling in theory itself.

The presence of Honda’s logo on the car Oree explained by the fact that the Japanese company is sponsoring this study group, and the group is composed of two German students – Nayka Albertusa (Nike Albertus) Luke and Andre (Andre Look), and it belongs to them the idea of such a motorcycle.
